What to Expect When Ordering Custom Aerial Equipment

Custom Orders: What Makes Them Special
Custom aerial equipment — whether it's a hand-dyed silk in a specific colour, a lyra in a non-standard size, or a trapeze — is made specifically for you. This means the process is a little different from ordering off-the-shelf products, and understanding the timeline and workflow helps set realistic expectations and ensures you get exactly what you need.
Step 1: Placing Your Order
When you place a custom order, you'll typically specify:
- Product type (silk, hammock, lyra, sling, etc.)
- Size or length
- Colour or colour combination (for hand-dyed items)
- Any special requirements
If you're unsure about any specifications, reach out before ordering — we're happy to help you get the details right the first time. Changes after production has started may not be possible.
Step 2: Production
Custom production timelines vary depending on the product and current order volume. As a general guide:
- Custom-length silks and hammocks: 3–7 business days
- Hand-dyed fabrics: 5–10 business days (dye time + drying)
- Trapezes & Corde Lisse: 5–10 business days (manufacturing time)
- Custom lyra sizes: 1–3 weeks depending on steel availability and welding schedule
During peak periods (school holidays, competition season), production times may extend. We'll always communicate any delays proactively.
Step 3: Quality Check
Before dispatch, every custom item goes through a quality check. For hand-dyed fabrics, this includes colour consistency review, fabric inspection, and a final measurement check. For hardware, this includes a visual inspection and load rating verification.
Step 4: Dispatch and Delivery
Once your order passes quality check, it's packed and dispatched. New Zealand delivery typically takes 2–5 business days via courier. International orders vary by destination — Australia is generally 5–8 business days, with other international destinations taking longer.
You'll receive a tracking number via email once your order is dispatched.
Colour Matching for Hand-Dyed Items
Hand-dyeing is an artisan process — each batch is unique. While we work to match your colour request as closely as possible, exact colour replication between batches is not guaranteed. Screen colours also vary between devices, so the colour you see on your monitor may differ slightly from the finished product.
If colour accuracy is critical, we recommend requesting a fabric swatch before placing a large order.
Rush Orders
If you have a performance, competition, or event deadline, let us know when you order. We'll do our best to accommodate rush requests, though this is subject to current production capacity. Rush orders may incur an additional fee.
Changes and Cancellations
Because custom items are made to order, changes or cancellations may not be possible once production has begun. Please review your order details carefully before confirming. If you need to make a change, contact us as soon as possible — the earlier we know, the more likely we can accommodate it.
